After its debut in 1957, Neue Haas Grotesk enjoyed immediate success and would grow to be one of the most used typefaces in the world. ![]() Hoffmann turned to designer Max Miedinger to design a new sans serif font for the company: Neue Haas Grotesk. In the small Swiss town of Münchenstein, the managing director of the Haas Type Foundry, Eduard Hoffmann, sought a way to unseat his biggest competitor, whose designs has been gaining great popularity internationally. I decided to mainly focus on the history of the typeface and how it came to be one of the most used typefaces across the world. Using sources from the Fontbureau and Monotype, I wrote the first draft of my essay. ![]() It is a clean and legible typeface that can be used to match a variety of styles.
