It would be convenient to give praetorians shiner armour or musculata and whatever, but that would not be historically authentic. In any case, visual distinctions would have been best served through battle standards and insignia for their shields I believe the Scorpion was the typical praetorian emblem. If anything the Praetorian units in the game are already too distinct. It wasn't so much they needed their own styles to let the people know who they are, but that since they are soldiers in Rome they are therefore praetorians. The praetorians would not have needed a visual distinction since anyone else would have been very far away: the Praetorians were by law the only military forces stationed at and in Rome. Would add more flavour to the game, and make the unit look more exclusive (I mean it is after-all a 1300 cost unit), and who can forget the great look of the Preatorians from the movie Gladiator? More rounded scutum but with round boss Purple garments (and perhaps black instead of purple cape?) Black Lorica Musculata (perhaps with segmented shoulder plates?) As such I would suggest that the Preatorian Guard ingame be reskiined with the following: The Preatorian Guard was an exclusive elite, as such no expenses were spared and just as much was cared about the appearance of their kit as its practicality - they had a side duty as a policing unit after-all. the Preatorian Guards which I feel could've gotten a more appropiate skin/uniform. I've always thought that the Roman units need more variety to make more units stand out from each other, and esp. Now to the point relating to that subject: 2K A Total War Saga: Thrones of Britanniaįirst of all let me say thank you for the reskinning and added unit variety of patch 12, that was brilliant, more of that please!.846 A Total War Saga: Fall of the Samurai.
